The history of Albania is closely interwoven with that of Romagna and its Roman origins. Cited first by Mark Terence Brown, according to some sources would come from the Colli Albani, according to other derives its name directly from its color (Latin albus).
It is said that the empress Galla Placidia considered them to be worthy of "Berti Gold", hence the legendary origin of the name of the place that might be the area of election of the grape.
Pier De'Crescenzi, in his Treatise of Agronomy in 1303, describes it as follows:
" powerful and noble wine taste thin and bricks preservable well ..... and this way you had the best grape of all other .... em>"
